Friday Favorite #5

Hello all and we're already at our 5th FF post, how time fly's! I know, it's a Saturday but i was (surprisingly) busy last night, so here's a FF post on  a Saturday!

Here's a little fact: I've been trying to eat healthier recently, and you have no idea how hard it is when you are still living at home with your family who get biscuits almost all the time because of my younger brothers. BUT... i have surprised myself with my eating, so I'm trying to keep it up.

In this "FF" I've got a healthy snack that Ive indulged myself in...CRISPS (that are *healthy*.)

My fifth "Friday Favourite" is (drum roll please) Morrison's "NUME" (Those are the words on it?) Soy & Potato Snacks.

Cheese & Red Onion - This is the first packet i tried, and i was impressed. The taste itself impressed me, but it didn't have much of a different taste to how a normal cheese and onion packet of crisp would taste. This packet was the one which had the most calories (102), that still is hardly any calories though (a normal walkers packet of cheese and onion flavored crisps is round 260 calories!). After eating a few of the crisps, the red onion really started to come through, and it was a satisfying flavor, and personally i don't like cheese so I'm glad there isn't a strong taste of cheese coming through. They filled me right up, so they'd do good as a quick snack, or something to eat after a workout!

Sweet Thai chili - This one, i found was super spicy, It wasn't over the top with chili's and everything, but it did make me sneeze a little! I love all Mexican, Chinese and Thai food , so this (flavor wise) was great! It had good mix of spices too, but the chili overpowered it a lot. This had 100 calories in a packet, which surprised me because it had more sweetness than the Cheese & Red Onion. I don't like super spicy things. and this made my mouth burn, so that would be my only disappointment, but if you like a healthy, spicy snack this is for you!

Paprika - Now, the whole "Paprika" flavor really didn't jump out to me that much, but then  i remembered how many different spices and seasonings paprika has in it! Personally, i love everything which involves smoky (or just normal) paprika because it adds that bit of vav voom, so to have it with crisps is...genius! Overall, it is a simple taste, and almost has a smoky bacon feel to it, but you only get a hint of the bacon!. This had 99 calories in it, which i was surprised at, because it had such a yummy taste, you really don't get that its only a few calories!

That is my (rather large) fifth Friday favorite, and wow did a blab on! This crisps are so good, so i recommended you get them, especially if your trying to eat less calories or on a diet, or you just want something different!

When i bought these they were on a "3 FOR £1.00" offer from Morrisons, so they aren't that expensive either.

Advice For Getting Braces

Hello all!
About a month and 2 weeks ago, i got my braces on, and my spacers taken off (they create more space for my teeth to move) and when you have them on, you suddenly feel like you're on a special diet!

I'm going to give you some advice on the "dreaded" brace, this is only what I've learnt as I've progressed with my brace wearing, if you know better then go with what you know, I'm just giving some little tips!

 | THE PAIN |

"What Do You Mean By The Pain?"
To be honest with you, this is probably one of the worst things you can get out of having braces, but it's nothing like a good paracetamol can't help!

"When Should I Take A Paracetamol?"
Before you go to sleep, your teeth do most of the moving, so it hurts the most. Also, about an hour before you go to have your braces on/ tightened, even if it doesn't ache straight after you get out the orthodontist, it will within 30 minutes-1 hour, so be prepared!

"On A Scale Of 1-10 (10 Being The Highest) How Bad Is The Pain?"
About 7.5 - 8, but the pain soon wears off, but just be careful when your eating.

"Is It True You Should Avoid Sweets, Chocolates And Anything Fizzy?"
Yes (well sort of.) You should definitely avoid them, but it doesn't mean you (necessarily) cant have them. I suggest you don't have anything sticky/chewy (fudge, toffee, chewing gum), crunchy and really sugary foods.

"I Can't Bite Into Anything?!?"
This is what braces do to you! Because it's metal in your teeth its an uncommon object in your mouth, but it just takes a while to get used to it. My teeth went sensitive for about 4 days, my front were still quite sensitive for about a week, but you get used to it!

"What Are Good Idea's For Meals?"
SOUP! It's a life saver, i had it for a meal for about 3 days! Pasta is good too and rice. You want to avoid really hot or really cold things (sensitive teeth) but you can always wait for the food to cool/warm up/down!
For dessert yogurt is really good or ice cream (as long as its came to room temp.)

"What Do I Do, I Have Food In My Braces At School And I Can't Get It Out?"
If you have school, i suggest you bring in a small toothbrush and at lunch (after you've eaten) brush your teeth in the bathroom, it really helps!

"What Happens After I Get My Braces Out?"
You have to have another mold taken and when you've had your braces on for the years needed you'll get them off and get retainers for "?" years. This is to make sure your teeth stay in place.

"How Long Would You Usually Have Your Braces On For?"
It all depends on your teeth, it could be 6 months to 6 years (I know a person!) I'm having mine on for about 1 and a half, but it all begins to become clear sooner and you might even get them out early!

"When Do I Go Back For My Next Appointment? "
It's usually every 2 months, and you just get your brace changed slightly because your teeth are changing!

"Can You Change The Colour Of Your Brace?"
Every time you go to the orthodontist (or whenever they adjust your brace) you get to choose a new colour (yours could be different). Right now I've got dark blue and i might go for black next (it makes your teeth look whiter!)

"I Broke My Brace!!!"
DON'T WORRY! It's happened to me too! You have two options :
1. Go to the orthodontist and see if they can get it fixed, this is a good idea if its a minor breakage and it disables your teeth from moving, or..
2. Wait until your next appointment, they will change your brace then and will sort out anything that's gone wrong.
At my dentist, you have warning's though, if you break your brace more than a certain amount of times, you have to pay for a new brace, so be careful brace wearers!

Friday Favorite #4

Hello all, welcome for another FF, and we're already on the 4th one!

So far in my Friday Favorite saga, i haven't done a fashion item yet, what better time than now?!

My fourth "Friday Favorite" is a Henry Holland Jacket! This is such a practical jacket, and is great for them windy or dull seasons. I've had it for almost a year now, and its still in fantastic condition, plus it's in fashion, and goes greats with any outfit!

Henry Holland is a designer company, and this is my first ever product i have bought from there. I got it around Christmas 2013, and it kept me warm really well. I haven't actually bought anything from Henry Holland, but from what I've learnt is that it is made out of great fabrics and is sustainable in that it has lasted me nearly a year, and probably, years to come.

This Jacket was about £60 - £70 (full price) but i managed to get it on sale for about £40 - £45. I know this is quite expensive jacket, but with the style that it is, you can always ge
t cheaper versions from places like: New Look, Topshop or other high street brands. I would say it is definitely worth about the £40 that i paid, i only wish that it would stay that price, but that's designers for you!

The only thing i would want improving is the dangling bits at the back/bottom of the coat. Sometimes when i'm walking or on my bike it can get caught up or make a really annoying sound when i'm walking to school because it ends up down near my ankles, but I've made knots in it, so it should be good for now!

Friday Favorite #3

Hello all, and I'm back with my third FF! This week, my favourite is a little different, but bearing in mind, these favourite's are not just beauty and fashion based!

My third "Friday Favourite" is my all time (2) favourite book "The Savages" and the sequel "American Savage." These books are so damn good, i just had to include them both because i couldn't choose between these two! I've only recently finished the second one (American Savage) and I've got to say it ticked all the boxes. You usually get bored by a sequel but I'm not giving up on any of these books.

Let me set the scene for you, the Savages are a family who (on special occasions) eat humans. I know, i know your thinking *GROSS* but its an amazing plot behind it all and a gripping read. The first book, gives you a back story on the past of the family, and how Sasha gets a boyfriend who's a vegetarian...you get the hint! The second book shows them fleeing to America after you know what goes down in England and how they are fitting in there 4 or five years later.

I only recently got the second one (it was released in June) and i read it only holiday within days!

The first book was gifted to me last Christmas (I've forgotten the date, it might have been my birthday last year) and it was £5.24 and the "American Savage) was bought as a holiday book for £5.24! They are 100% worth the money and i suggest you get them! It has black comedy, and is based around family.
The only downside was that the daughter was not in the second book, because she was at university, but lets hope in the third book that we find out what happened to her!

3 Easy Lunches For School/Work | B2S 2014

Hello all, my last Back2School post is here!

If you're like me, then on most occasions you bring something to eat with you to School/Work. Even though you can have school dinners, it's proven that bringing in your own lunch is healthier and cheaper, so how about for a day you choose to bring in a lunch for a change?!
I'm going to share with you 3 of my favorite lunches that i bring with me, they may not always be a bunch of greens, but can still be healthy! I think you need something that will keep you going throughout the day, that's where these recipes come in.

My first recipe has to be Cold Rice! Wow, it sounds lovely, right? Well of course it isn't just RICE, but i guess you'll find that out in the recipe...


Healthy Rice Salad
Ingredients:
  • Flavored Cold Cooked Rice (300g) - It doesn't have to be flavored. 
  • Sweetcorn (100g + Defrosted) 
  • 2 Red Peppers, Sliced into small piece
  • A Bunch of Parsley, Chopped
  • 1/4 Cucumber 
  • 1/2 Carrot
TIP: YOU CAN ALWAYS USE : TOMATOES, PEA'S AND OLIVES!

Method:

1. Firstly, you want to take the cold, cooked rice out of the fridge and it would've probably clumped together, so break it up in a large mixing bowl. Then add the Sweetcorn, Parsley, Cucumber, Carrot and pepper and mix it all in together.

2. Then you want to season it (Salt+Pepper). Finally, cover the bowl with cling film and put it back in the fridge. 

(This recipe isn't just for one day, it can be used for about 3 days!)

Prawn Pot 

Ingredients:
  • 100g Cooked Prawns
  • 195g Can Sweetcorn (It doesn't have to be canned)
  • 1 Carrot, grated
  • 1 Baby Gem Lettuce, shredded
  • 1/4 Cucumber, diced
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • 5 or 6 tbsp Mayonnaise 
  • Smoky Paprika 
Method:

1. Layer the salad in a bowl, starting with the lettuce, then the sweetcorn, cucumber, carrot and the prawns on top.

2. Then in a separate (small) bowl, mix together the Mayonnaise, juice of 1/2 lemon  and a tablespoon of the smoky paprika. Finally, put it  in the fridge, or put in you bag ready for school!

TIP: YOU CAN ALWAYS SEASON IT OR ADD MAYONNAISE OVER THE TOP!

Coronation Chicken Sandwich Bites

Ingredients:
(Coronation Chicken - This may take a little longer, so i suggest you making it the night before)

  • Shredded Chicken from a pre-roasted chicken
  • 3 tbsp Mayo
  • 1 tsp Mild curry Powder to taste
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tbsp Mango Chutney
  • Handful of Sultanas
Method:

1. Mix the Mayonnaise, Mild Curry Powder, Cinnamon,  Salt, Chutney and Sultanas together. You can always change the amount of each ingredient for a different taste.

2.Then you want to mix it with the shredded chicken.

3. Put it in the fridge, or...

Ingredients:
(Coronation Chicken Sandwich Bites)
  • Brown Bread (2 slices)
  • Lettuce, cut into slices
  • Cucumber, sliced 
TIP: YOU CAN ALWAYS USE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VEGETABLES WITH THE SANDWICH!

Method:

1. Get the 2 slices of brown bread and spread on the coronation chicken , prepared earlier, to one of the slices.

2. Then, you want to place on top the cucumber and lettuce and press the other slice on top and you've made your sandwich.

3. To make it the Sandwich "Bites" then cut the sandwich into 4 equal squares and enjoy!

Friday Favorite #2

Hello all, welcome back to another "Friday Favorite!"

This week, i've been experimenting with some old products of mine, and i think i've found a winner!

My Second "Friday Favorite is " The Body Shop NUTRIGANICS - Refreshing Toner" I love this product because it is a lot like my old toner ,which was Clarins, and its basically that but the price is better. I've been using it for a good couple of months now, and it hasn't failed me once.

The NUTRIGANICS set is an excellent collection from The Body Shop , even though it says "For The First Sign Of Ageing" it can be used on anyone! The Body Shop is overall a superb, and i've had other toners from it before. It does a great job at clearing all of the horrible dirt off my face, so well done TBS!

This Toner is £8.50, and you can always get other kind of toners for a cheaper price, but i would recommend this one because the Body Shop are against animal testing and they get it from organic farming, so i always feel like that money is all to help animal testing etc.

The only thing i would like them to improve would be the consistency of it. This is because it is really easy to get into your eye (watery) and it makes your skin really shiny and wet, don't worry though (it drys down after a bit.)

My Back To School Makeup | B2S 2014

Hello all!
Today i'm going to be sharing with my"school" makeup look! This could be for a simple day out, or work, whatever goes for you. Also...this is my second of the 3 posts for my Back To School Theme (B2S), so there's only one more left after this!

My school look is probably the one of easiest ones out there and (because i'm lazy) i skip a few makeup products but hey its school!

Firstly, I moisturize my face, i cannot do anything before i do this, with "Garnier Moisture Match -  Dry
Skin."  After applying that to my face, i put on another cream to my face which is the "The Body Shop Cool BB Cream."  This adds some more colour to your face and also helps to moisturize. Even though your not supposed to use that many creams, they both have different uses (my excuse).


Next, i cover my under eye darkness with "MUA Cover & Conceal" and dot it under my eyes and rub it in with my hands or a brush.
After doing so, i like to make
sure the `shininess` is controlled; so with a big brush i apply this powder stuff, i have no idea what it is called, i got given it by my mum who has no idea where it's from!



When it comes to eye shadow i don't like to overdo it, so i use my "Naked Nudes Eye shadow Palette" and start off with the cream colour as a base, then in the crease i apply the darker colour and in the inner corner i put the white colour, but only a little bit. Finally, in the outer corners i apply the same darker colour as before(2)!

When I've finished that eye shadow, i like to add some mascara to my bottom and top lashes, i use my "MUA Mega Volume Mascara - Black." This adds some volume but doesn't make your eye lashes over the top!
FINALLY i add some colour to my lips with my "Barry M Lip Gloss - Limited Edition" this adds a pinkish colour to your lips. It doesn't make anything dramatic go on, which i find is what you need for school.
